Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon — Specialist Knee Surgeon
Bradford Royal Infirmary + The Yorkshire Clinic
Mr Ross-Thriepland is a highly specialised Consultant Knee Surgeon appointed to Bradford Royal Infirmary in August 2025, where he leads a comprehensive knee practice spanning adolescent conditions through to complex adult reconstruction and joint replacement.
Before studying medicine, he completed a first-class Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering with a specialisation in medical engineering — including a year in industry working in Research and Development at DePuy Synthes, one of the world's leading orthopaedic implant manufacturers. This foundation informs everything: from how he reads a scan, to how he selects an implant, to how he plans a realignment procedure.
Following a period of military service, he completed graduate medicine and six years of higher surgical training through the Yorkshire Deanery. He subsequently completed two advanced post-CCT fellowships: six months with Mr David Duffy in Harrogate, and the prestigious Wrightington Hospital Knee Fellowship with Mr Rob Gilbert — which included specialist training in paediatric knee surgery at Alder Hey Children's Hospital.
He has a particular interest in joint preservation surgery — helping patients delay or avoid knee replacement wherever possible — and when replacement is required, he advocates for appropriately indicated partial knee replacement to maintain natural knee mechanics.
Patients describe him as approachable, clear, and meticulous — focused on honest advice, shared decision-making, and long-term outcomes.
